Node News

Welcome to another issue of the Node newsletter.

As pioneers in location based media, Node has created the world’s first platform for delivering rich media experiences in a reliable, efficient and robust manner.

We licence our platform to the Tourism, Sport, Education, Retail, Heritage and Industrial sectors. Our newsletters will keep you informed about our platform, products and services together with details of our latest project developments and technology advances.

Interactive spectator

A new perspective for spectators

The future of sport spectating is about to take a leap forward. We already have live and interactive broadcasting and up to the minute data analysis available online, but imagine a service which knew exactly where you were, what you could see and who you were interested in. Combine all these features and deliver them to the palm of your hand and you have what the Node Platform can offer the 21st century mobile spectator.

Node is currently in discussion with a number of clients to transform wide area spectator sports, such as motor racing, golf, cycling and athletics and we expect to announce a significant contract in the sports industry soon.

Our platform provides clients with the ability to integrate existing media solutions as well as extend their service, establishing a future proofed platform for the 21st century mobile spectator.

Benefits of tracking
visitor behaviour:
Node is in discussion with a number of high profile companies in the tourism sector. The Node Platform can radically transform the tour guide experience, responding to who you are, where you are and what you're looking at, giving the visitor the most current information using its automatic updating software.

Node's development team has been working with one of the UK’s specialist training companies, ZK Rational to produce an online training programme for the Node Platform.

The workshop will include step-by-step processes, glossaries and example projects and will complement the face-to-face workshops we currently provide.

The online service will be available to Platform Partners in the autumn.

Ashton Court Mansion has been monitoring visitor behaviour with the help of Node's Admin software. The platform automatically records visitors’ behaviour as they explore the Estate but it's the Admin software that interprets this data and overlays it on a map of the estate. This resource helps staff view the routes visitors take, the distance they cover and length of time they take as well as the demographic they represent.

This resource has not only helped the site confirm the effectiveness of the interpreted tour available, but has also provided useful information for the site management and maintenance department .

Node is also working with a number of prestigious partners in the sports industry. A project has been proposed to explore how Node's technology could enhance the spectator's experience like never before. We hope to have more information on this for the next edition.

Node's executive team grows from strength to strength.

Caroline Marshall, currently Business development manager will now also take on responsibilities as Senior Account Manager at Node. Caroline has 15 years of production experience in radio and television at the BBC and more recently has been consulting in the tourism sector.

Continuing growth at Node has also promoted Caroline Harris to Operations Manager. Caroline started with Node back in April as Office Manager and has extensive experience in media and travel industries.

Coming up: Node has a growing reputation for innovative location based production but now the creative spotlight is to be turned on us.

First, we've been earmarked by the Department of Trade & Industry for a video case study which will be promoted on the DTI's innovation web site. The case study will be presented at a major innovation event co-hosted with the Welsh Development Agency in Cardiff later this year.

Meanwhile, the Sector Skills Council for the UK audio visual industries, Skillset has also selected Node as one of only 17 case studies to highlight good practice throughout the UK interactive media industry. Skillset say Node is a very interesting and positive model, and could highlight the key challenges encountered when developing content for a completely new delivery platform.
